Recruitment frequently asked questions

Q: Do I need to attend the Panhellenic fair if I know what recruitment is?

A: Yes. Panhellenic fair is not just informational, it is fun! You must attend to make sure everyone is on the same page and it is an opportunity to meet new people.

Q: Do I need to register for the Panhellenic fair? Is there a separate registration?

A: Nope! You do not even have to register for recruitment to attend the fair. This fair gives girls the opportunity to see the details before registering, as registration closes the next day at 8 am.

Q: Do I need to be on O’ahu to participate in Recruitment?

A: Yes, all Recruitment events will be in person.

Q: What if I have a time conflict (class, appointment, meeting) and cannot attend a part of/a day of Recruitment?

A: While it is recommended that you attend every round of recruitment in order to best get to know the chapters and sisters, please contact your recruitment guide as soon as possible if you know you will not be able to attend.

Q: What do I wear for Recruitment?

A: Details will be posted and found on this website and our social media.

Q: What if I am interested in joining a sorority but am unable to participate in Fall 2021 Recruitment?

A: We host a formal recruitment once a year, however, if circumstances allow, the houses may participate in Continuous Open Bidding (COB). This is not guaranteed, however, and more details will be shared as soon as we know it.

Q: Can I participate in Recruitment as a sophomore or upperclassmen student?

A: Yes! As long as you are a full-time female undergraduate student attending UHM you can participate. Doing so as a sophomore or upperclassmen student does not hurt your chances of getting a bid!

Q: What should I expect after registering for recruitment?

A: You will receive an email from ICS to log in and that is where all the Zoom links and schedules will be.

Q: About how many women get bids for each sorority?

A: We cannot provide a specific number, as it depends on the number of women participating in recruitment. Participating in recruitment does not guarantee a bid.

Q: What if I receive a bid from one of the sororities but decide to decline it?

A: Once you sign an MRABA, you are ineligible to participate in Formal Recruitment until next Fall. However, you can participate in COB in the Spring.

Q: What if I have more questions?

A: Send us an email at panhel@hawaii.edu.
